
Free Range Chickens
Orders by midday on Mondays for delivery by 4pm on Thursdays
We are producers of quality free range traditional whole chickens and chicken portions. We use the Hubbard bird, which is a traditional slow growing free ranging bird. We buy in day old chicks from a reputable supplier in the UK; they are then under heat for approximately 3 weeks, weather depending, and eventually moved into mobile houses onto the fields for approximately 7 weeks, where they have daily access to fresh food, water and pasture.
The birds are originally from France, which enjoys 80% of the traditional free-range market; they combine tradition with old time flavour and taste.
Our birds are from the farm ranger strain that have natural yellow skin and shanks; they tend to roam far from the coups, which enhance their tradition flavour and taste.
Their final weight varies between 1.8 kg to 2.5kg per bird. They are fed on additive and drug free chicken meal supplied locally from a quality poultry feed specialist.
The whole birds are supplied oven ready and trussed, packed as required with or without giblets. We also produce chicken portions ranging from packs of breasts, thighs, drumsticks, whole legs, wings and livers. We also produce gluten free free range chicken sausages and burgers, plus free range chicken and leek homemade pies.
During the summer months we will produce a barbeque pack containing thighs, drumsticks and wings ideal for summer cooking alfresco.
